About the Provider
Lily Shirazi Bates, MD, is a fellowship-trained/board-eligible cardiovascular disease physician who is board certified in echocardiography and internal medicine. Her medical education began at Cornell University where she earned a BS in human biology with a special focus on gerontology. Dr. Bates returned to her home state of Texas for her medical degree, then to Arkansas for her internship and residency in internal medicine. She again returned to Texas for her fellowship training in cardiovascular disease. We are thrilled she has chosen to join the Heart Clinic of San Antonio, serving patients in San Antonio and surrounding communities.
Dr. Bates practices preventative cardiology, helping her patients modify lifestyles to lessen the impact of cardiovascular disease. She has a particular interest in cardiovascular disease in women and enjoys working with her patients on an individual basis to develop treatment plans specific for each one’s needs. Dr. Bates places a high priority on educating her patients and open, two-way communication. Her personal interests include scuba diving (she is PADI certified) and running half-marathons.
Dr. Bates is conversational in Spanish and Persian.
